January 2012 has been proclaimed School Board Recognition Month in the State of Washington. The proclamation by Governor Gregoire’s Office, notes that “school directors play a crucial role in promoting student learning and achievement by creating a vision, establishing policies and budget, and setting clear standards of accountability for all involved.”
January 30 is no longer a snow makeup day as it has been scheduled as a Learning Improvement (professional development) Day for certified staff.

Click here to read more.Congratulations to Ephrata Middle School (grades 7-8) and Parkway (6th grade) students and staff for achieving the Washington State "2011 School of Distinction Award," recognition as one of the 22 highest improving Middle schools (grade bands 6-7-8) across Washington State that significantly improved student achievement in Reading and Math over the last five years (2006-2011). Winners were determined mathematically by the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE) over a five-year period using the state's "Reading/Math Level Index" and "MSP" (Measures of Student Progress) scores for grades 6, 7, and 8 collectively.
